Presented by the Treasure Island Museum in the lobby of historic Building One
1 Avenue of the Palms, Treasure Island, San Francisco 94130
About the Event:
Join us as author Philip Jett discusses his new book, STRANDED IN THE SKY: The Untold Story of Pan Am Luxury Airliners Trapped on the Day of Infamy, which includes sixty photos that showcase the story. His presentation promises to offer a rare fresh look at the Empire of Japan’s surprise attack on Pearl Harbor—a historical event that many may think they have learned all there is to know. However, Mr. Jett’s presentation will reveal that there was so much more happening during that pivotal moment in history that forced the United States into World War II. It was a pivotal moment that began at Pan American Airways’ marine base terminal here on Treasure Island of which Treasure Island Museum now occupies a part. The presentation will include not only the story of the Pan Am luxury flying boats trapped over the Pacific Ocean on that infamous day, but also a discussion of the immense research that went into the book as well as the numerous interviews of descendants of the crews and passengers aboard those planes. Mr. Jett will then open up the event to questions from those in attendance.
Note: It is recommended that attendees purchase the book prior to the event as only a limited number of books will be available at the event for signing. "Stranded in the Sky: The Untold Story of Pan Am Luxury Airliners Trapped on the Day of Infamy" is available here for pre-order now!
